Sea Trail Men’s Golf Association (STMGA)

Male property owners with Sea Trail golf memberships are welcome to join the Sea Trail Men's Golf Association (STMGA).  Our Secretary, Jim Hitchcock, can be reached at (910) 575-2541, and he will be happy to assist you with your application.  An application also resides on the STMGA Web site.

STMGA provides an excellent forum for golf and good fellowship. Golfing events are scheduled for every Tuesday on one of our three fine courses. You are encouraged to participate regularly, as STMGA play is undoubtedly the best way to start to meet our complement of approximately 300 members.

You’ll find each Tuesday’s sign-up sheet on the STMGA bulletin board at the Jones/Byrd Club House. You can also sign up on the Sea Trail Web Site. You must sign up no later than NOON on the Friday  preceding  each Tuesday on which you wish to play. Your tee time will then be posted no later than noon Monday, on that same board (and also on the outside porch wall at the Maples Club House and on the Web Site STMGA calendar).

You’ll quickly appreciate that the level of play amongst our members is widely diversified. Our respective handicaps are all over the place. Some of us tee it up nearly every day, while others play rather occasionally. In a short time, you’ll be able to get as many (or as few) games with your fellow members as you’d like. Tuesday’s STMGA event scores will be posted for you. Please, however, be sure to post all of your other scores - even those played on “foreign” courses - on our bulletin board for computer entry by our Handicap Chairman (or directly into our computer at the Jones/Byrd Club House if you are familiar with our system).

In addition to our weekly events, STMGA sponsors six special tournaments each year; St. Patrick’s in March, Member/Member in April or May, a Team Match play event in April/May, Member/Guest in June, our Club Championship event in August 2006, and the BFAA Charity event in December. Notices regarding these special events will be posted as plans are finalized each year.

Please mark your calendar with the dates and times of our General Membership meetings. Normally we meet on the first Tuesday of every other month (beginning  in November), at the Pink Palace. However, sometimes the date and timing may change due to special circumstances. Such changes will be posted on the STMGA Web site calendar. You should attend as often as you can in order to keep abreast of what’s going on.

Also, your Board of Directors meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month. You are welcome to provide any board member with matters that you might want discussed by the Board.

As with all other organizations at Sea Trail, STMGA relies heavily on its members to run the organization, functions and, most importantly, our tournaments.  Please become involved in some way with the organization. It will help all of us enjoy what the organization has to offer and will help you more rapidly become a full-fledged member of this great organization.  The Sea Trail Men’s Golf Association is your association. Again, golf and good fellowship opportunities here at Sea Trail are almost endless - be sure to make the most of them.
